Manchester City Football Club is looking to recruit a Team Physician-1st Team and Elite Development Squad to join the Medical and Sport Science team on a part-time basis.
The successful candidate will assist the Head of Sports Medicine in their role of leading and managing medical services based within the 1st Team / EDS, in addition to making clinical and operational decisions. Key tasks will include:
Acute Intervention: To direct the injury management of all 1st Team / EDS players with the aim of optimising the healing process.
Injury Prevention: Reduce the risk of injury occurrence within the 1st Team / EDS with the development of appropriate screening and injury prevention strategies.
Rehabilitation: Design evidence based protocols for return to full function of the 1st Team / EDS players and allow them to compete at the highest level while minimising the risk of reoccurrence of injury.
The Team Physician- 1st Team/EDS will possess skills and knowledge including an excellent range of clinical treatment skills, excellence in the understanding and delivery of rehabilitative medicine from plinth to pitch and demonstrate the highest standards of professional and personal conduct, especially confidentiality. In addition they will have significant post qualification experience, full GMC registration and a diploma in Sports Medicine or equivalent. The successful candidate will also have significant experience working in UK elite sport with a multidisciplinary sports science and medicine team and experience in managing and co-ordinating therapy staff in the delivery of injury diagnosis, treatment and prevention strategies.
The role will be part-time, working approximately 70 days per year (approximately one day per week + holiday cover) and the successful candidate will require an MCFC CRB check prior to starting.

| Work with and cover for the Head of Medicine when he is away from the football club performing the following duties. To maintain all legal and professional qualifications in relation to own profession and maintain the equivalent standards for all the therapists within the department. To create relationships with players and coaches to support injury rehabilitation needs. To assist appropriate Continuous Professional Development training for all 1st Team / EDS therapists. To ensure the latest clinical, scientific and technical innovations to practice are incorporated into maintaining the highest level of care. As part of the Sports Medicine Department provide emergency aid cover for both training sessions and matches. To maintain up to date AREA or equivalent accreditation to meet all legal requirements for this specific part of the role. To attend and professionally engage in the internal emergency aid training programme. To maintain detailed records for the department of all therapy care in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures. Maintain a Continuous Professional Development portfolio consistent with elite sports medicine, including annual appraisal by the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine
