Physician required for the Department of Musculoskeletal Medicine Tier II


Anglia Community Enterprise (ACE) Colchester Area

Salary £74,505 per annum pro rata

An opportunity has arisen for a 6 month fixed term position with the possibility for extending the arrangement.  Locum or secondment opportunity.

There are 4-6 sessions per week and consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work all or some of the sessions. 

 The physician (s) will be required:-

  • To work as part to the Tier 2 Musculoskeletal service within ACE along with the existing physician
  • To receive referrals from other Health Professionals (primarily General Practitioners) regarding patients with musculoskeletal and/or exercise/activity-related problems.
  • To provide a high standard consultation, investigation, diagnosis and treatment service for such patients
  • To communicate with the patients General Practitioner
  • To advise the referral and booking service where problems arise triaging patients with musculoskeletal problems.
  • To see patients with knee
  • To maintain spreadsheets for audit purposes.
  • X Ray, MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Pathology and all usual investigative facilities are available
  • Facilities for joint and soft tissue injection available.
  • Links with ACE and Colchester Hospital Physiotherapy services and links with ACE podiatry service are in place.
  • All consultations will be recorded on Systm1
  • Secretarial support is provided.

The successful candidate(s) is likely to have -
    • Higher qualifications and experience in Sport and Exercise or Musculoskeletal Medicine
    • Considerable practical experience in Musculoskeletal Medicine
    • Ability to perform joint and soft tissue injections
    • Ability to record consultations on an IT system.

Part Time Team Physician Manchester City FC


Manchester City Football Club is looking to recruit a Team Physician-1st Team and Elite Development Squad to join the Medical and Sport Science team on a part-time basis.
The successful candidate will assist the Head of Sports Medicine in their role of leading and managing medical services based within the 1st Team / EDS, in addition to making clinical and operational decisions. Key tasks will include:
  • Acute Intervention: To direct the injury management of all 1st Team / EDS players with the aim of optimising the healing process.
  • Injury Prevention: Reduce the risk of injury occurrence within the 1st Team / EDS with the development of appropriate screening and injury prevention strategies.
  • Rehabilitation: Design evidence based protocols for return to full function of the 1st Team / EDS players and allow them to compete at the highest level while minimising the risk of reoccurrence of injury.
The Team Physician- 1st Team/EDS will possess skills and knowledge including an excellent range of clinical treatment skills, excellence in the understanding and delivery of rehabilitative medicine from plinth to pitch and demonstrate the highest standards of professional and personal conduct, especially confidentiality. In addition they will have significant post qualification experience, full GMC registration and a diploma in Sports Medicine or equivalent. The successful candidate will also have significant experience working in UK elite sport with a multidisciplinary sports science and medicine team and experience in managing and co-ordinating therapy staff in the delivery of injury diagnosis, treatment and prevention strategies.

The role will be part-time, working approximately 70 days per year (approximately one day per week + holiday cover) and the successful candidate will require an MCFC CRB check prior to starting.

  • To maintain detailed records for the department of all therapy care in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
